The Northern Area Housing Board was one of seven such boards set up after the decision to retain Hull City Council’s stock of social housing. Serving the Beverley, University and Greenwood & Orchard Park wards of the city, Northern AHB held 43 formal meetings between 12 January 2007 and 14 October 2010.
Membership of the Board comprised councillors (decided by the Northern Area Committee), tenant representatives (elected by tenants of Hull City Council living in the relevant wards), and independents (appointed by the Board).
Faced with making economies in the wake of the coalition Government’s Comprehensive Spending Review announced 20 October 2010, the Council agreed the dissolution of the area housing boards with immediate effect as from 21 October 2010. Executive functions of the boards were transferred to the respective area committees.
